As a community band, it’s a heart warming feeling to be able to pay it forward to another community band in their early stages of setting up.
We have had the opportunity to donate a few instruments to the Temora Town Band, founded on March 11, 2016 by Taz Rundle. This donation came about from a conversation between the mother of Band President Elissa Jones, and Taz (an ambulance officer) when he delivered a patient to the Temora Hospital.
Temora Town Band will be breathing new life into a Bb Tuba, a double Bb Tuba, three tenor horns and three cornets.
This is what Temora Town Band had to say:
“Bathurst Band gives Temora a gift.
When President of the Bathurst City & RSL Band Elissa Jones heard from her Mother, local retired Nurse Laurel West that Temora had started a band but needed instruments, the 130 year old community band were able to identify surplus instruments that they gifted to the fledgling band.
Started by Taz Rundle in May 2016 the Temora Town Band has performed 27 times since, for charities, ceremonial occasions, Anzac Day, Australia Day, Town Show, Shire Council events, aged care residents and a production of Hello! Dolly. It has 14 member who supply their own instruments and this generous gift will enable us to accept and teach new players.”
We wish Temora Town Band all the best with their new beginnings!
