George Butler!

Instrument: 1st Alto Saxophone

Service in Band: My music teacher Phil Braithwaite told me that I should join the band on flute almost 2 years ago, and as the band was low on flute players I decided to give it a go. I have since played flute, alto saxophone and baritone saxophone during my time in the Bathurst City & RSL Concert Band.

About Me: I first got involved with music when I decided to learn flute when I was 8 years old. In the years since then I have picked up other instruments, alto saxophone, baritone saxophone, tenor saxophone, bagpipes, and thanks to strong encouragement and support from my parents, I have become far more involved and passionate about music. Thanks to the RSL Band I have numerous opportunities to perform and learn from other musicians.

From the Band: George is our youngest member, and enjoy his enthusiasm and dedication towards attending rehearsals and performances whilst managing his other musical commitments at the Scots School and around the community. He was awarded the ‘Most Improved Member’ in our annual ANZAC luncheon, this year – A trophy which first began in 1971 to encourage, recognize and support the young members of the band. Well done, George!
